People still do that, and did without ranks. Traffic on the forum does us only good, so I see no drawbacks here.hmmmmmmmm....basicly: if the post system gives tooo much "credit" I guess we will see a lot of spam posts?
I mean, if its better to be rank 1000 Golden Member, I for sure will immediately go to the "Count to 1000" thread, and start spamming.
And after that, make a new thread "Count to 10.000"....

It is a backwards approach, if this happens then things will either get moderated again and infractions issued, or post counts would be disabled either on node or section. I see no reason why people with actual post counts that did not include spamming, like mine 500 posts, should be exempted from being offered a title to showcase their contribution to the forum. What you propose does work in a way, but in no way it is a viable and coinciding with common sense approach.
Perhaps, everything is up for discussion, this is a proposition thread. Nothing has yet been decided, and I was not the one to come up with the idea of more than what we already have. But nobody is encouraging something, it's like saying having ability to make posts encourages breaking the rules by posting.
