Hey there!

Do you know of any possibility to cut recorded demofiles?

I want to edit the demo because i need specific scenes out of it. Wasn't able to find a tutorial or program. The file should retain its type .dem.

Maybe you guys can provide more information.

Greetz!

I know how to convert into .avi files. Made several CS movies. But that's not i'm aiming at.

As i already wrote...

The file should retain its type .dem.

I want to view it in CS:S again.

then google is your friend.

Stop kidding me.

Unfortunately i dont think its possible to edit demos like that. The only thing i can suggest is that you use the "Demoui" command and from there you can skip to a certain "tick" in the demo. So for example, if you are making a ban request and the demo is 20 minutes long, you could post the demo and mention the "tick" where the incident occurs and then anyone who watches the demo can skip to the exact moment.

Also, I dont know the history between you two but this isnt the place to show it. If people google something, they are directed to forums just like this and if we can provide answers then its better for everyone all round.

Trying to record during a demo playback just gives a "Can't record during demo playback." error :( It would be a great feature if you could do that though.

Thank you for your useful information.

As you already wrote, i wanted to shorten demofiles in order to upload them here for banrequests. Because it's nonsense to upload 20 MB of which i only need 5 seconds :> But it seems that it isn't possible :(

Concerning Maxgs: We have no common history, i don't know what he wants to achieve with his posts. Maybe he's trolling or a fool. Dunno!

True regarding the fact that you can't edit/cut demos. And the bad thing is you can't be told to 'make shorter demos' you never know when the person is gonna block the next time if you are trying to catch a blocker for example :/

Ofcourse you can edit demos with other programs...what NoMatt3r was trying to know was whether you could edit demos without changing the file format (.dem)
